CORK STUDENTS ACHIEVE CROWD FUNDING GOAL

On Monday February 1st, Cork students achieved their ambition to Crowdfund some Wearable Tech. Through this process they have learnt about Crowdfunding for a business venture and next week they will see, first hand the cutting edge of Wearable Tech and the Internet of Things as a result of their efforts.

The enterprising students secured the funds to buy a Ringly. The Ringly is a jewellery-technology hybrid, which will be trialled and tested by the students at the event. The winner of the Build A Business Competition will keep the Ringly. The Build A Business competition, sponsored by AIB, is where students pitch their business ideas to a panel of judges. The best pitch from each day will go head to head on Friday 12th February at the parents session. The winners will take home a Ringly, an iPad and much more, sponsored by AIB and Dell.

Transition year students, and I WISH ambassadors, Anna McKenna and Niamh O’Connell from Scoil Mhuire College in Cork have lead the crowdfunding campaign.

The aim was to raise a minimum of €200 in one month through €5 donations. They reached their target this week. Congratulations to Anna, Niamh and all the volunteers and donors who made this happen.
