Alana Kavanagh
Graduate Instrumentation & Controls Engineer, Jacobs Engineering,
After finishing the Leaving Certificate in 2017, originally wanted to be a Veterinarian. I took a gap year before choosing a degree. During that year I completed a Level 5 PLC in Laboratory Techniques which moved my interests towards pursuing a career in science & technology. Graduating in 2022 with a BSc (Hons) in Physics for Modern Technology, I was equipped with the knowledge and skills that enabled me to take on my current position as a Graduate Instrumentation and Controls Engineer at Jacobs Engineering. My current project is a large-scale bio pharmaceutical plant based in mainland Europe. My role involves preparing and updating instrument index, issuing instrument datasheets to vendors, assisting seniors engineers with instrument hook-ups, cable schedule and instrument loop wiring diagram. Other duties involve attending Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT's) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT's) and providing Support During Construction (SDC). Fun Fact : I am a big fan of Motorsport, particularly Drifting and Formula 1.
