My name is Grace McConnell and I am an Associate Director within the Quantity Surveying sector at Linesight. Linesight deliver professional construction consultancy services and strategic support to multiple sectors globally. I have over 15 years in the construction industry . I didn't start out with the traditional route into Quantity Surveying. After school i went to Study Interior Architecture first and qualified with a degree. After working in that field for a period of time and getting real hands on experience in the construction arena i decided to go back and do a masters in Quantity Surveying which i felt at the time was a better fit for me and my skills. I loved the design aspect of interior architecture but i felt it lacked practicality and i had an interest in contracts and finance. I instantly took to the course and applied to work as a Quantity Surveyor. I joined Linesight in 2015 as a Junior Cost Manager and have worked my way up since. I became chartered once I finished the masters. I am currently working on some major healthcare development projects.I love what I do, I’m a mentor for the Society of Chartered Surveyors and a mentor internally in Linesight for women in construction. I’m also a councillor for a number of graduates who are applying to do their chartership. Outside of work I’m a mum to a 1 year old girl and have just bought a house which im planning on using some of those early interior design skills.
