Hazel Johnston

Digital and Automation Systems Apprentice, Johnson and Johnson, 1

My name is Hazel Johnston. I am currently studying in my third year of my Digital and Automation Systems Apprenticeship with Johnson and Johnson at Depuy Synthes through MTU. Prior to this apprenticeship, I completed my Leaving Cert in 2020. I decided to take a year out of education to explore my professional options. I had always had an interest in Engineering so when I saw this opportunity arise, I jumped at it. Over the past two years, I have worked with the Automation Team at DePuy Synthes. I work alongside this team of Engineers that help make processes Automated. This experience has broadened my technical knowledge and opened many doors for my future. I have recently been awarded Apprentice of the Year which means I am recognised as one of the top Apprentices in Ireland. This was a national award which recognises the finest talent in the apprenticeship system, overseen by the National Apprenticeship office, I am also the first ever female to receive this award
